The exhibition ‘Spring Calligraphies’ is coming to Rome in October!
Scheduled in Dojo Bodai (Rome) on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 October 2018 is the event One Book – One Exhibition.
Following on from previous previews in Paris and Milan, the event once again offers the Roman public the opportunity to see the book Calligrafie di Primavera [Spring Calligraphies] and the rich photographic exhibition dedicated to Itsuo Tsuda‘s calligraphy that inspired the book published by Yume Editions in 2018.
THE BOOK
The project to publish Master Tsuda‘s entire calligraphic work in a single volume was conceived more than thirty years ago by a small group of his direct students. Thanks to the determination of Régis Soavi, Sara Rossetti, Manon Soavi and dozens of practitioners engaged in researching, photographing and deciphering the hundreds of calligraphies produced by Itsuo Tsuda during his stay in Europe between the 1970s and 1980s, this project finally came to fruition in 2018. The book, the result of this immense labour, offers reproductions of all the calligraphies found, enriching their presentation with an extensive section devoted to reconstructing their meaning and execution techniques, as well as a complete illustrated biography of Itsuo Tsuda.

THE EXHIBITION
The photographic reproductions of the calligraphies, printed in high definition and displayed in the setting of a traditional dojo, built and lived in the spirit of the author’s practical philosophy, offer visitors a unique and immersive overview.
THE EVENT
On Friday from 7.30 pm, visitors can attend the exhibition opening, watch the book presentation and stay at the dojo to chat, browse or purchase the book, see the other publications in our library, or enjoy an aperitif. Some of the Italian translators of the book Calligrafie di primavera will be present. The exhibition will also be open all day on Saturday (from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.).
